TikTok is on the Rise!

According to Omdia's research, TikTok has become the most popular social media platform for watching videos in the US, with a 56.6% increase in average views in 2021.

One of the most important factors is that TikTok offers a wider viewing experience to young consumers, and if the rates continue to increase, it is thought that it will push different video platforms such as Netflix to change in the long run.

“Streamers looking to engage young audiences, commercially or otherwise, should not underestimate the growing importance of TikTok,” said Maria Rua Aguete, Omdia Senior Director.

Among the 35+ audience, YouTube still remains the most popular video platform. However, it is essential for brands that want to reach the younger generation to follow such data.

Vertical Video Feature from NBA App

NBA

The NBA has released an update that may be of interest to Generation Z, with Microsoft, its cloud and artificial intelligence partner, for its application.

Within the NBA App, there are new video content areas where users can have fun, such as vertical videos similar to TikTok and scrolling videos titled "For You".

In addition to the new story area where users can watch short sections of the games, there are different video content such as match summaries, best performances and press releases in the "Watch" area.

Amazon's New Video Ad Format

Amazon has introduced its new video advertising package, where brands can stand out with video ads.

The brand is making it easier for marketers to leverage video advertising by adding a new format to its self-service sponsored display program.

The new format allows advertisers to create video campaigns on both Amazon and other platforms.

“We want to bring the power of video advertising to more brands, regardless of size or resource level,” said Tanner Elton, vice president of sales for Amazon Ads USA.
